Five for Friday- May 14th Edition

"Five for Friday" did not come up in my drop down menu, meaning this is my first "Five for Friday" post. I considered doing "Thirteen for Thursday" yesterday in an effort to catch up on some blogging, but decided to stick with the more traditional "Five for Friday."

1. It got me wondering though about blogging traditions. Who started Five for Friday? What was its original purpose? Do you do Five for Friday? Have you done Six for Saturday? SPT? Wordless Wednesday? 12 on the 12th? Flashback Friday? Do you have another blog tradition you can share? I'm repurposing my May 4th SPT, where I wondered what happened to Lelly and why there wasn't a challenge that week, to ask what is your favorite blogging tradition?

2. I really hate it when my kids start a homework assignment at 9 o' clock at night! And this one was just crazy:
Kate was learning about density, so she was supposed to pour things into a clear container to see visually what liquids were the most dense. Kelly jumped in on the "fun" (I am so grateful he does!) and they came up with all sorts of concoctions. They'll have to report themselves on the results- I was too distraught over the raiding of my pantry.

3. Cute and sweet?

Yes.
Proof we need a dog? Not a chance. Sorry.

4. I just have to say that I love my sister Kathryn's sewing machine just as much as she does! She made me and my girls skirts for Easter and then finished another one for me just in time for Mother's Day. I love them! LOVE. them. And I am so blown away by this hidden talent she has.

I have to admit, I was a bit resentful when she mentioned on her blog that she had wanted a sewing machine for Christmas but didn't get it and then a few days later she posted that our dad had sent her one for an early birthday present. But he was inspired and I am so lucky to be the recipient of some of her best projects!

5. In tribute of my big race tomorrow, I'm celebrating Emily today.

Last Saturday, she ran her first 5K!

Because of scheduling problems, I did not get to run with her. However, she set the pace for Micah, Angela and Kate. (Kelly and Soren also ran.) I'm so proud of her and happy she will join our "team" for the summer season! Good Job Emily!

I have done Five for Friday. And Six for Saturday. And a few for Friday. And Miscellaneous Monday. Basically whatever works for what I have that I want to post. I don't like to get tied down.

You know I love your skirt that you wore to my house last week. Now I love your new one as well! It's hard to be too resentful when you are the beneficiary, eh?

Good luck on your race tomorrow!!

This is fantastic! I love the skirts. If your sis is interested, I'm co-hosting a boutique in the cul-de-sac (no vendor fee) on Sat June 19...she's invited. Have her shoot me an email if she wants more info.

Lucky Runt, lucky you! Let me know if you need an early birthday present too and we can talk about it. I'm easy; always have been. Well, maybe not always! Good fortune in today's marathon. I love you.

I've done Flashback Friday and Memory Monday, but no other "traditions" on my blog.

I'm LOVING those skirts Jenn, they are so flattering and cute and I wish I was your sister's friend!

Break a leg today. Wait, that's in the theater world, maybe good luck is better for a MARATHON! Love you, you'll do great!

I attribute Five for Friday to Kelly N., but I have no idea if she really started it or not. I think it was just an alliterative way of doing a miscellaneous post, but I love it and do them often.

The skirts Katheryn made for you and your girls are so darling. You really threw Michelle and I into a tizzy that day when you wore it at her house.

What is with all this blogging?!?! It is taking me much longer than 30 seconds to catch up on the family blogs. Geez. So inconsiderate!

Just kidding. I love that you're blogging again. I'll make an effort to check more than just once a week. Cute skirt, thank you Kathryn, and WAY TO GO, EMILY!
