the power of WOMEN

Each class at Women's Conference was an hour long, divided between two speakers. The second speaker in my scripture class was President Clark, the President of BYU-IDAHO. He was really amazing! And two of his ideas I want to share with you.

First, EVERY calling in the church is a teaching calling! EVERY calling.
My mom, who has been the teacher development coordinator, says the same thing. And I really believe this. President Clark continued to say, "It is our privelage to teach with power and authority." Do you feel that in your calling? I do. Even though I struggled with my calling as the nursery coordinator (feeling unutilized) I knew that if I was well prepared, the people I was serving would feel the Spirit and be uplifted, comforted and taught. I felt that way when I taught in YW. I feel that way as the primary president. It is truly my privelage to share what I know to be true with those who I love and serve. Whatever your calling is, YOU are privelaged to teach by the Spirit- with power and authority.

Second, President Clark had been to the Idaho Falls temple in prepartion for this speaking assignment and he told us, while sitting in the Celestial Room, he saw us. He listed many things we do as women, wives, mothers, visiting teachers... he had seen us love, serve, care for and build up others... And for a moment, I felt overwhelmed at the sense of what we accomplish collectively by doing our best individually. We are amazing! I sense it, in a smaller scale, as I read the blogs and hear of all the good things we are engaged in and what we have all done for others, especially each other! Magnify that by the hundreds of women sitting in the Marriott Center and the thousands of women all over the world who love and work and serve... and you will know how amazing YOU are!

The theme of his talk was 'engagment of the heart' and he said that all things are done best when done heart to heart. Your hearts speak to mine and I am so grateful for each of you and what you do to lift my spirits and strengthen my resolve. Thank you for being amazing women and true friends!

I think that is so cool that Pres. Clark saw all of us and recognized all that we as women do. I've been thinking about that for several days and had an epiphany at Target the night before Women's Conference (which I inarticulately tried to explain to Jana that night), but basically I was amazed and overwhelmed by the amount of stuff we as women do and that we do it so well.

What a great Saturday thought. I am preparing for tomorrow and now I want to be more prepared and do my job with purpose.

I love all my jobs as a woman and can't remember a time when I didn't want "this."

I love this thought. Women are truly amazing. I feel this all the time. I can't imagine not wanting to be a woman. And the sisterhood that we share is a huge blessing. I'm going to have to think about my calling being a privilege and an opportunity to teach. Maybe I can get a better attitude about it.

I love to teach, I love to give talks and I love to conduct. I love to do these things because I feel a closeness to the Spirit and am greatful for the peace that I feel. Life is at times chaotic and what a blessing to find quiet time and feel the peace that the Spirit can bring.

How greaful I am to be a woman and to be a strong one at that, maybe no in phycicallity but in presence, in attitude, in my ability to speak to anyone. We as women are too hard on ourselves and we need to be able to see ourselves for the women that we are and bask in our strengths.
