SPT- Make-Over Make-up

A month or so ago, Lelly issued this SPT challenge:

There are a million little ways to get a mini-makeover, even when a visit to the salon is not on the calendar.
What's YOUR secret to feeling and looking fabulous?

I did the challenge.
Late. Of course.
But I never posted it.
So, because there was no challenge for yesterday, I'm going to take this opportunity to post it.

What's my secret?

SMILE!

I once asked Kelly what I could do to make the biggest difference when he came home from work. I expected his answer to be something like- have dinner ready or make sure the shoes are out of the doorway. His answer was, "Smile. Smile at me when I walk in the door." I had the nerve to ask him for another answer!

Smiling does not come easily to me. I know that sounds stupid, but it's true. I once read that it takes more muscles to frown than to smile but my smiling muscles are weak and grumpy is my natural disposition. However, if I really want to change my attitude and my environment, all it really takes is a smile. It is the most (non)extreme, inexpensive make-over I can give myself and my family.

I think picture #3 down is my favorite, probably because that's how I look most of the time too. I'm always surprised by how much my face transforms when I smile (many SPT attempts have taught me this) so I'm sold on it. I don't know if Randy would say that I smile a lot at home though.

I love this, Jenn! Your grid of photos is just awesome. My favorite is the second one down, that face is familiar and it cracks me up.

And the fact that you asked Kelly for another answer, you are too funny.

I'm not a natural smiler, either. We met with our bishop's family prior to their trip to France to give them some pointers, and Marc said that the French are suspicious of people who smile for no reason. That's never been a problem for me...

I read on Neighbor Jane's blog recently that smiling improves your temperament, even if you're just faking. (Your brain doesn't know the difference?) I may have to give that a try.

LOVE.

Love this post, love you, love your smile, love smiling with you, love making you smile and just LOVE!

I had more than one person in my life tell me I'd be so much prettier if I'd just smile once in a while. I finally took it to heart as an adult and they were right...not only do I look better but I feel better! What's that quote...something about if your actions change your behavior will follow? It's so TRUE.
