tracking my progress

OK. I feel like Jill. I don't really want to read. There are so many other things to do! So, this is how I am motivating myself. I am going to post what page number I am at throughout the next couple of days. I have to finish 388 pages of The Known World by Thursday night. My mom comes into town on Wednesday and I'd like to be able to visit with her on Wednesday night, so if I can get most of it done by then, that would be even better! We'll see how I do. I have a long way to go!

I didn't make much progress during the day but I dusted and vaccumed my family room, read several articles about gratitude for my Women's Conference handout, started cleaning my craft room so my mom will have a place to sleep, played outside in the glorious sunshine with Ethan, and made dinner!! So, I feel good about my day even if I feel behind with my reading!
As far as the book goes- Amy warned us there were a lot of names to figure out, so I wrote down names as I went and that has helped. She also said it started really slow. I don't know that I would call it slow but I have had to read every word or I miss what is going on! I am enjoying the story and the characters though, so really, I feel good about getting 100 pages read in just a couple of late night hours! But now, I am ready for some sleep!
Tuesday at 11:00am, page 147
I was able to read a little this morning, but Ethan is going down for a nap and that means two free hands for a little while! So, I am going to try and finish my craft room so my mom has a clean place to sleep while she is here!!

I just woke up from a nap after taking pain medication because my jaw and head have been killing me today! Kelly was my knight in shining armor, again! He came home early so I could rest. It took some getting kids settled, dinner started and a little reading to finally get myself to sleep but I feel much better now and am looking forward to more reading tonight.
Tuesday at 11:25pm, page 245
I feel nauseous and groggy. I can't seem to stay awake. I want to blame the pain medication but I took it 6 or 7 hours ago. Oh well. So much for a good night of reading.
Kelly has been trying to fix our kitchen sink. I think I made him mad because I didn't want the hot and cold reversed but the tubes don't fit the right way and he doesn't know what to do about that. Maybe we'll both feel better in the morning!
Okay- in case I ever print these blogs for a journal, I need to finish this thread. Bookclub was moved to next Tuesday, giving me ample time to finish the book and so my reading has slowed down and I stopped recording my progess. It was fun though to see when and how I got my reading done. I ignore a lot of responsibilites when I have to read, but I really didn't ignore all of them and that makes me happy! I'm not totally retarded after all! :)

I have faith in you, Jenn, but I was a little worried when I saw that you were just starting! I'm enjoying this book but it took me quite awhile to really get going on it (like a week). I'm on 180 now. Good luck!
I feel guilty even complaining about reading, when your life is so much busier than mine. Good luck with the reading, it's impressive every month when you finish the book and have so much to contribute to the discussion.
If you can get past about the first 150-200 pages you should be sufficiently into the book to get reading quickly. Good luck!
PS. I'm planning on doing a little research about the history behind this one, so hopefully we can have a good discussion about history if nothing else!
I have just under 1,000 pages of reading that I need to finish if I want to be caught up in all my classes. My goal is to have it done this week so I can have a week or so to breath before finals. Any chance I'll make it? Not likely...
Wow, Jenn, I'm impressed by your progress! 105 pages in one day of The Known World is an accompishment. It took me a week to read that much of the begining of the book.
Page check - I am on page 245 and don't really have any time left to finish but by golly, I am going to give it a good ol' college try! Good luck! See you Thursday!!
Wow! I can't believe you read that much of this book in one night! Like Amy, it took me a week to get that far. You rock.
That's super impressive Jenn, especially when considering how much other stuff you accomplished during the day. You're amazing.
Is that by coincidence that you have a wisdom teeth ad on your links or did you put it there. Sorry to be off the reading subject.
You've passed me by. I spent most of Tuesday reading These Is My Words and now will be cramming Wednesday and Thursday to finish The Known World.
I'm sorry you're feeling crappy, keep the pain meds coming.
Way to go! It sounds like reading sickness to me. ;) That's what happens when one reads a book for too long that she feels compelled to read. Add that to the stress of having a husband trying to do home improvement projects at the same time and you have a recipe for disaster!
By the way, the hot and cold are mixed up on my master bath tub and it drives me crazy! Stick to your guns on that one.
