forge ahead with your new ideas...

That was the fortune in my cookie. The cookie that came with the YUMMY lunch Jill brought me! I love orange chicken from Panda Express and it shows the true measure of Jill's friendship because she hates chinese!! Thank you Jill! For thinking of me and for saving me from the lunch alternative- chicken dinos!

I thought my day would be unbearable but it has turned out to be delightful! (If you ignore the mess and the fighting- though neither are as bad today as yesterday!)

To my GREAT surprise, Angela and Micah walked through my door this morning! They are on their way to Texas and came through Utah to pick up Nate. They had less than an hour, but will be back for part of the day Tuesday before heading back to Wyoming, where they are working for the summer. I don't realize how MUCH I miss Angela until I see her! She and Micah are just so wonderful and I love to be around them! I am looking forward to a little more time with them on Tuesday!

I didn't see yesterday's mail, so I was also pleasantly surprised to find a package from Michelle in my craft room! I love the star Michelle puts by your name when she sends you something! I don't know if she thinks that much about it, but it is one of those really endearing things that broadens my smile when I receive something from her! It was full of all sorts of red, white and blue goodness (none of which I have and much of which I have never seen)! Thanks Michelle!

Kelly made dinner tonight. I love those nights. It left me free to watch the kids, including 5 extra, and not feel stressed. Thanks Kelly! I also played in my craft room and am excited to have organized my rub ons and stickers as well as made progress on some projects I have in the works! Angela is going to try and bring my IKEA shelf back from Texas this trip which will mean all sorts of fun for me!! I am SO lucky to have a happy space! Thanks for that too Kelly!

All in all, it was a great day. Now I have to figure out if I should feel bad about dreading the day or if I should dread every day so every day turns out better than expected! I do know, I am extremely grateful to each of you who helped make my day a good one! Thanks!

Don't you just love it when a crappy day turns out fantastically like that? I wonder about dreading things as a form of self-defense (sort of like me with birthdays) and then everything is such a pleasant surprise. You deserve great days, especially when taking on so many extra kids. I can't stand the thought of you eating chicken dinos. Gross.

Ooh, I can't stand the thought of you eating chicken dinos, either! Yuck. Orange chicken, yum.

I was bummed to discover that I left out a couple of items from your package. Some of those cute patriotic things from Target's dollar spot awhile back. If you don't already have them, then I will get them to you!

Glad your day turned out better than expected. What a happy surprise.

I miss you too. I don't think about it too much, but every time I come across a drawing from Soren, a love letter from Megan (to Micah), or a picture from Kate, I just melt. I love coming to your house, I love playing with your kids, and I LOVE keeping you up all night talking about life's trivial moments. I love you.

Let's see, to be an optimist and be disappointed, or a pessimist and be pleasantly surprised? Hmmm. Either works best when we are open to the good things and happy surprises that come our way.
Glad the day worked out for you!
