I give up!
I can tell it is the middle of summer. As hard as we try, we just don't keep a very good routine going. School is coming, but it's not close enough to be excited about or look forward to. And that means everyone is sick and tired of each other, our small house and our boring backyard! We yell and fight all day and the house is a disaster...
Today, I threw my hands in the air and said, "I give up!" I asked my kids to finish their morning chores and then I went and played in my craft room. I let the kids pop popcorn, eat otter pops IN the house, build a fort, get out any toy box they wanted... my house, if possible, is an even bigger disaster BUT there was less fighting and I had a great time being in my happy place! I wish I could "give up" every day, but the mess is starting to get to me!! I feel really agitated and I am having trouble focusing on anything but the mess. I have extra kids tomorrow (my friend Patty is at Girl's Camp) so I think the mess will just continue to grow. I am praying that I can be calm and kind amidst the caos- but I may just have to "give up" again and escape to my happy place!

Give up again and lock yourself in your room! If you've got Patty's kids over then you'd be fighting a battle you can't win, plus I want to see what you make in your craft room. You still need to post pictures of your reorganized scrap room and cute little jars. Have fun!!
Giving up sure sounds like a great option to me! What if you "gave up" with the condition that they clean up at the end of the day. Seems like a win to me!
Yes! Give up again! Retreat into your happy place. It seems like everyone pitching in to clean up at the end of the day is a fair trade for being able to make forts and eat Otter Pops in the house... I wish I could do that every day.
I want to give up all the time, but then my husband gets really angry when he comes home to a mess, so I've stopped giving up.
I feel your pain. I am glad you gave yourself a break. You totally deserve it. I am trying hard not to stress about house stuff, because in the end it doesn't really matter. Man, it's so hard to do. I feel crazy when the house is crazy.
Oh my the same sentiments as the rest...Give up! sometmes I guess we just have to submit to it! at least for a period of time!
