Birthday Recap
I didn't have any expectations for my birthday this year. It was on a Sunday which meant I had normal church responsibilities. I added to that a teacher training meeting in the morning. My family is all out of town for the holidays. And I didn't give Kelly a list of things I want. But it turned out to be a really amazing day!
I woke early to get ready for my meeting. I was frantically cutting fruit when the phone rang. It was Jill calling to say she was a mile away, could she swing by. OF COURSE! And this was the birthday goodness she carried in:
I don't know if you have been lucky enough to partake of Jill's Gooey Chex Mix but it is my FAVORITE! And she made this big batch- just for me- fresh that morning!! I am still debating which is better- the chex mix or the cute bowl it came in!!
And are there words for the cuteness of this bag? I haven't found them, but she had not made it out the door before I started loading it with my Sunday essentials. I received lots of compliments about my wicked cute bag at church! It was the most wonderful way to start my birthday!! THANKS Jill! (And thanks for the really sweet post on your blog- I love that you know so much about me!)
My meeting had its hitches, like my secretary sleeping through it after staying up until 4:30am to finish all the rolls, class lists and schedules! But, we had breakfast and my counselors made cinnamon rolls, breakfast casserole and I brought fruit- it made for a really yummy birthday breakfast! My meeting went well too which always make me happy!
At church, the children all sang to me. And most of them found me again during the day to wish me a happy birthday! How happy is that?!! To have cute kids with big cheesy smiles wish you happy birthday all afternoon! Well, it is dang happy! Add to that all the birthday wishes from my teachers and friends at church AND that my first counselor, Julie, took over my sharing time responsibilities for me!.... I can't remember a better Sunday!

We came home and had fondue for dinner- heaven! White cake with raspberry filling and buttercream frosting from the bakery- double heaven! And presents?!@#! I had a whole stash of presents! I didn't think I was getting anything! But Kelly and my friends didn't let that happen!
Kelly and my kids gave me an Ipod Nano with accessories, Alias Season 5 (now I own them all!), BAGS of the limited edition York Vanilla Mint patties and my new calendar (just in time!).
Ben and Melissa brought me a birthday present at Christmas. I have hung on to it. SO, funny- it was a gift certificate for a facial! One more thing I will have done by my next birthday! (See yesterday's post!) Thanks Ben and Melissa!
I had a SURPRISE present from Crystalyn which Kelly had retrieved from the mail on Saturday and then HIDDEN from me! She sent me one of her WONDERFUL quote books- they are just SO great! Attached were more favorites- Twix and 3 Musketeers! And I had NO idea she was sending my anything! Thank you Crystalyn!
I missed Michelle on Saturday night when she came to borrow fondue pots. She left the cutest hot pink bag with big orange polka dots! It was filled with SO much beautiful ribbon, tiny buttons, and super cute Heidi Swapp chipboard letters. We LOVE ribbon at our house so my girls were in awe. Kate said, "Mom, you have the BEST ribbon!" I corrected her- I have the BEST friends!! Thank you Michelle!

My first counselor, Julie, gave me yummy soap for my kitchen wrapped in the CUTEST stitched napkin ever! The colors are so warm and happy- and I LOVE anything she stitches! She has the most perfectly sized and spaced stitches you've ever seen! Thanks Julie!
I have the best Visiting Teachers! One of them, Emily, shares many of my interests. We probably annoy the other, Katie, with all our gasping and giggles over our latest projects and finds but we love sharing inspiration! Emily never forgets me and brought me a bag full of goodies- stickers, the little red scrapbook, the paper pad to fit it!! SO nice! Thanks Emily!
And, last but not least- my sweet friends, the Smiths, dropped by with a birthday card and $5 gift card for Chili's. The card said, "this is to get some chips and queso." Kristin is one of the most amazing people you will meet. Kelly spoke in Sacrament Meeting back in November and mentioned a few of the things from my happy list, including Chili's chips and queso! Isn't that SO sweet of her to remember and go to the trouble of getting me the gift card?!! She has three kids, two with fragile x. She is moving to Seattle once their house sells but her husband leaves in less than a week and she will be home alone with her three kids. And yet, she still found time to do this for me! I really do have the BEST friends!!
In addition to all my wonderful presents, I received several phone calls. My dad called on Friday so he wouldn't miss me over the busy weekend. My brother, Nate, called from Arizona- such a sweet gesture for a brother!! And my mom and Angela called just before we sat down to dinner.
With so many people thinking of me, it just had to be GREAT birthday! Thank you everyone! It was SUCH a HAPPY birthday for me!!

Not too shabby, especially for a holiday/Sunday birthday! How sweet that all the primary kids sang to you and wished you happy birthday.
I'm so glad Kelly surprised you with Crystalyn's goodmail birthday gift, and that you had Michelle's sweet gift, mine, and others from your counselor and visiting teacher. That sounds like a great birthday to me.
I'm glad it was such a happy day. You deserve every bit of it!!
I'd say that went off pretty well, considering it was on a Sunday! I'm glad you got so many surprises, that always makes for a fun birthday. I don't think there are words for the cuteness of the bag from Jill! (and why have I never heard of the York vanilla mints? they sound divine)
The bag from Jill is soooo cute! Love that she brought it over in time for you to take it to church. I have the recipe for her chex mix and totally forgot that I wanted to try making it. I am always bummed by Sunday birthdays but yours sounded great!
