still celebrating! (and poor Micah!)

I picked up Angela and Micah from the airport on Saturday night. They had been in Texas for the holidays and we missed them like crazy!! It was SO good to see them again! Once we made it to my house, Angela pulled out two more birthday presents for me!! She and my mom had gone to the scrapbook store and bought me all sorts of fun goodies- paint, a big bag of buttons, rub ons, stickers, foam stamps... I should have taken a picture but immediately started organizing it in my craft room and I even used some of the supplies already!! I LOVE that Angela knows what supplies I like best and what colors and brands. She also knows I use and reuse the good stuff, so if she gets some duplicates, it's okay. That makes her one of the few brave enough to buy me scrap supplies and I LOVE her for it!
But even better than the scrap supplies was the tin full of my mom's homemade divinity! Have you had divinity before? It is one of my favorite candies but I have not had the courage to make it myself knowing the time it takes, how much "stirring=arm pain" is involved, and the potential for blowing up the motor on my kitchen aid! It has been a long time since I have had some and I was just thrilled to have it! I shared with Angela and offered it to Micah, though he declined (I think more for me who was SO excited than because he really didn't want any)!! I sent a few pieces back to Provo for Nate but the rest I ate all by myself! Most of it on Saturday night! If it hadn't been for fast sunday, it would have been completely gone by breakfast on Sunday, but it made it until Sunday night, barely!! So, it is totally gone. Every one of my kids has asked what was in the tin and I tell them- a birthday treat for me, that's why you didn't get any and NO, I don't feel even a little bad! Well, maybe a little. But it was heavenly and I savored every bite!! In a ravishing, scarf it all down kind of way so that the only picture is of the empty tin!! Thanks Mom! It was much appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed!!

In other news, Micah broke his arm in Texas- both bones! And had to have metal plates put in surgically! He showed me the wounds on Saturday night which are quite brutal! Even my kids gasped and groaned when I showed them the pictures. If you dared to look, the staples are on both sides of his arm because they had to fix both bones!! Anyway, the point is, we are wishing Micah a speedy recovery and hoping that it all heals up right! Take Care Micah!!

I love it when a birthday can be strung along. How awesome to get scrapbook supplies and a tin full of divinity. I do like it, but can only have a little bit. It tends to be to sugary for me.

BTW the arm looks rather freaky and painful. ouch!

I tried to comment much earlier, but it wouldn't let me (just so you know).

Score on the belated birthday gifts and the divinity. I'm not a fan of divinity, but I'm excited for you to have a treat you love.

Poor Micah, his arm looks awful. That's going to leave a wicked scar eh?

Holy Heavens, Jenn! Where the heck have I been in the blogging world. Absent, I guess. Well, believe it or not I read all your posts since "land sick" which was the last one I had read. You were a busy lady while I was out of town. Alas, I did nothing more than sit on a couch which my invalid husband (see posted picture), and gain weight. We need to hang out more often. I LOVE YOU! and I MISS YOU! and LET'S GET TOGETHER! and I have nothing more to say but I wanted to add one more and... AND. :)

I'm probably the only person that saw the picture of Micah's arm and said, "oh, cool!". I hope he feels better soon.

What fun welcome home gifts and you didn't even have to do the traveling. I love divinity, it requires a cloudless day and low or now humidity, so I haven't made it since we moved to IL. My mom always made it, thanks for the memories and don't feel bad for not sharing.

I'm glad someone likes divinity as much as I do. I eat it by the handfuls too, and I eat it for breakfast. I do share with my kids, but nobody else. I made it totally in my mixer this year, figuring that if it blew the motor it was time to buy a stronger motor, but it didn't.
Angela is amazing on all levels. Add scrapbook shopping for Jenn to that long list. It was fun.
Now I miss Angicah like crazy.

Like Pam, I saw the picture and thought "Oh cool" Stuff like that is so interesting to me. I bet he has an awesome scar coming his way!

I have never had divinity- I think my mom convinced us all that we wouldn't like it when we were little so we never tried it. She probably wanted it all to herself! Good for you for not sharing- the mom always has to share.

I am so behind on your blog but caught up now. Loved seeing the payoff post- your kids are so cute. I can't wait for Mya to be able to make all those kinds of things.

So glad you're still celebrating! I sure wish you had taken a picture of the new scrapbook goodies, though... I love divinity, my grandma makes it. I tried one year on Christmas Eve -- I was going to give it to my neighbors. I did something wrong, though, and it never set up properly.

Poor Micah! That looks pretty nasty.

You have such a nice family! A whole bunch of goodies from a scrapbook store is wonderful in itself, but to be able to eat your favorite candy while putting it all away is bliss!

What did Micah do to break his arm so seriously? That really looks terrible. I hope he has some good pain medication to help see him through.
