SPT- catch up

January 1st
auld lang syne: what was one of your favorite spt's from 2007 and why?

When I was taking this SPT- I had a guy offer to take my picture for
me. Turned out- he was a professional photographer (he offered me his card)! I cringed to think what he would have said about my photo- but turns out, it gave me a LOT of confidence to get out there, in public, with people watching and just take my picture! People don't "get it" when they offer to take a picture for me and I say the point is that I took it. Oh well. I am so loving the self portraits!!

This is also one of my favorites because I ended up loving the cut off version of my face and have felt really liberated by this photo to keep, use, and love the photos with partial faces!

new YOU resolution: what are your goals for yourself this year?

One of my goals for 2008 is to eat better, another is to not be so serious (for my kids sake). I'm not actually doing very well with either of these goals. But it happened that on this Tuesday morning- I was eating oranges instead of chocolate for breakfast and being goofy with my kids! It made for a great SPT moment!

a closer look: is there something in your life, your house, your creativity... that gets more attention than anything else?

I had NO idea what to do for this SPT- so I took a different one.

It was snowy and windy and freezing- so I had opted for a book, a blanket, a snack and a cozy spot to pass the morning. You can't really see the storm blowing in the picture but it was so great to sit by the window and see the snow traveling horizontally down my street and know that I was warm and toasty inside!! And have you had these nuts? I found them at Target, then in a big bag at Costco! I LOVE them! They are pecans and craisins in crushed black pepper with orange zest- so yummy!

The next day, I had a thought about the "missed" SPT. It wasn't profound but I realized as I was making my bed that I always make my bed!

If for some reason it didn't get made before bedtime, I make it before crawling in bed for the night because I sleep better in a made bed. Crazy- maybe. But definitely something that gets more attention than, say- the bathrooms! I almost threw out this photo because I took one after I got off the phone but I realized that I give a lot of attention to my phone too- I can't let it just ring when I'm home. So, I kept it!

What's in a name?: How did you get the name of your blog?

Jill was the person who told me about blogs and said I should start one. I fought it. Posting a blog was just one more thing to do when I had so many things to do already! So, I named my blog "busy" in hopes of it being a reminder/excuse for not posting very often!

I am still busy- hence the SPT at my calendar!! But I am so glad I listened to Jill and, even though I post sort of sporadically, I love blogging- the record of my life, the blogging friends, the support from comments and other posts... blogging has been a great form of being busy!!

Excellent SPT catch-up Jenn, I think your Roller Mills self-portrait turned out so cool. Plus I know what a busy area that is and how self-conscious I would have felt taking a picture there too.

I never think of you as someone who takes herself too seriously, especially with your kids.

Being cozy with a book is where I'd like to be on most days.

Your bed looks so good, I haven't seen the new pillows and comforter. I always make my bed too and can't stand getting into it if it hasn't been made.

You and your calendar are inseparable in my mind.

i LOVED this photo when you first posted it, and i LOVE it now (i agree, partial faces can be very intriguing.)

i know you feel hit or miss with SPT, but it's always fun for me to swing by and see that you've posted 3 or 4 at a time!

your calendar looks totally intimidating to me...

Hi Jenn, I don't know you, but I read it was your birthday on December 31st on Jill's blog. So's mine. It's a great day to have a birthday, there is always a party. I was 10 before I found out New Years Eve wasn't celebrated for my birthday. I thought the whole world celebrated just for me. What a let down. Hope you had a happy birthday.

Great catch-up! I love the Roller Mills photo. I have a penchant for partial faces, especially if it's my own!

I don't like getting into an un-made bed, either. Cute photo of you and your bed!

love this post jenn! i can totally relate to the being too serious with the kids. i can tell it effects our relationships and i have been thinking about that as well. trying to be more than just the, "don't do that or do this person." also, i will make my bed before crawling in at night if it doesn't get done during the day. it just feels so much better that way.
