Racing to Conference
We kicked off our General Conference weekend by running our 2nd race of the year- the Provo 5K. We started by the Provo Tabernacle, ran to the Provo Towne Center Mall and then along Freedom Boulevard to Center Street where we finished back at the park by the tabernacle.
Kelly (28:05) finally beat Soren (28:11)- 6 seconds is still beating him! And I(34:20) ran with the girls- including Kate (34:15) who said she just couldn't 'pick it up' until I told her we were two blocks away from the finish line and then she took off ahead of me to finish 3rd in her age group; and Megan (34:19) who didn't want to get up because it was SO cold. I told her it would be worth it when we were sitting warm and cozy in our jammies next conference and could say to each other, "Remember last conference when we were crazy enough to run in the snow?"
After running, we "raced" to a FedEx Office to make some copies and then "raced" back to Cedar Hills, so we could deliver General Conference Kits to the families Kelly and I Home/Visit Teach. We finished "racing" around just in time to sit down and watch the Saturday morning session- which was wonderful, even if we were cold, tired and sweaty.
I don't know that I would recommend "racing" to conference, but it was a good morning and a fun memory for our family.

That is so fun. I can't believe you ran so close to my house and I didn't even know you had a race in Provo!!! You need to keep me in the loop!
Way to go Nielsen Family!!
And we LOVED the conference kits! Thanks so much for being such great home/visiting teachers! The packets mean even more to me now that I know what a crazy morning you had and STILL got them to us before conference started! YOU GUYS ROCK!!!
