Saturday, July 19th

You know those days that are just plain busy? This particular Saturday was three of those days rolled into one. Or it would have been if I could have done everything that was scheduled! As it was, without a clone, I had to pick and choose my activities and this is how my day ended up:

7 a.m.
Cedar Hill
s started their family week activities with a 5K that we decided to run. Our friend, Ashely, was in charge and she did a fantastic job! The shirt was pretty cute. Registration and packet pick-up were easy and well organized. The course was nice with mild hills and a big section right along the creek. And the timing tools were awesome- just a minute or two after crossing the finish line we were handed cards with our times and how we placed.

Several families from our new ward were also running. We chatted before the race and congratulated each other after the race. One family unknowingly set the pace for Kelly who ran his best time yet! It was a good experience to help us feel like part of our ward family and a good way to start our busy day.

9 a.m.

Of all
the activities that could have filled my day, I chose to go to Amy's house for a book binding class. It was the right choice! I had a great time refreshing my book binding skills, laughing with friends and eating a tasty lunch. It has been over a year since I have made a book and now that I have my craft room and tools back, it was such a great way to break back in to the hobby I love! I think if life were hard, paper could work the same for me as a blanket does for a baby. I LOVE playing with paper!

Amy is of course a fantastically organized person and it makes her teaching very easy to follow. I had no trouble making my two books and even hope to do another one on my own. THANK YOU Amy for all you did to make it such an enjoyable day!

5:30 p.m.

OR 5:52 p.m. if you have been gone all day and have 5 children who don't want to let you out the door again. I had warned my kids that I would be MIA all day so they jumped at the few minutes I had home before meeting Angela and Micah for our evening activity. I felt bad that I had not been there all day so I took a few minutes with each of them which made us late. But we finally got out the door and picked up Angela and Micah at the Park 'n Ride for what turned out to be a fun night.

We started with dinner at Fuddrucker's- one of Micah's favorite places to eat. Then we went to the USANA amphitheater for The Police in concert.

I'm not a huge concert lover. What I really mean is- I'm not a lover of huge concerts. We were really far away from the stage and spent more time people-watching than watching the band (though Sting was delightful eye candy on the big screen behind the real him). Kelly would say I people-watch even at smaller concerts which is probably true but why do we pay to watch people when we could do it for free at the park, the mall or the movie theater? Well, I do it because Kelly enjoys concerts and it is a great way to spend time with him. AND- really interesting people show up at concerts! We had a lion tamer and his scantily but leather clad assistant; Pocahontas; 8 month pregnant lady in a tube top; and a group of 50 year old ladies on the grass in 4" heels! I always wonder who they are dressing for! It was quite entertaining!

It was also great to spend time with Angela and Micah. Angela didn't know even half the songs and Micah had to wear earplugs to avoid getting a headache but they are two of my favorite people on the planet and spending time with them is always a treat! It was probably more fun for Kelly and I than for them, but I'm so glad they came with us!

When I got home I was exhausted and decided to get some sleep before getting up early to write my talk for church. I was worried about my talk which usually means I sleep fitfully but after my busy day, I slept like a rock! And it was a good day which meant I had happy dreams!

Wow, you are busy! It sounds like you had a great day though. I love that you are a people watcher...because I am too! The lion tamer is so funny. Concerts bring out some crazies, that's for sure!

That's a lot for one month let alone one day. Can you help us plan our anniversary date next weekend? We need something other than the usual dinner and a movie.

How do you do it? I am so inspired by your families running, and your creativeness. I really am going to do both sometime soon!

Hey, I also would love any ideas for a different Anniversary date.
