Let Freedom RUN

Okay- the title is a bit cheesy. But it came right off my running shirt, so I decided to use it!

I think it is fair to say that participating in Centerville's Freedom Run is now a tradition for our family. Kelly, Kate, Megan, Soren and I ran the 5K again (third time for Soren and I, fourth time for Kelly and the girls). This year, we added more family with Kris, Travis and Mason joining us in the fun! Emily opted to run with her age group instead of doing the 5K and did a half mile run with her cousin, Olivia. Ethan was a good sport and ran a quarter mile sprint to earn his shirt. It was a great morning- except maybe for Kris showing us all up by running her first 5K in less than 30 minutes!

I posted that I may have crossed the line and become a crazy runner- admitting that we ran again on Monday in Provo's Freedom Run probably solidifies that, but we did it and it was a great run. Soren and Megan tried their first 10K and did amazing! Soren finished under an hour and just a minute behind Kelly. I ran with Megan who placed second in her age group and finished in an hour and seven minutes.

The course included part of the parade route, so we had lots of people cheering for us. We also enjoyed the hot air balloons floating just above our heads and previewing the floats as they lined up for the parade. It was a fun and festive run and a great way to start our 5th of July activities!

I may be ready for a 10K, but I'd be too embarrassed to run it with your speedy family. I'll stick with 5Ks for now.
