three = independent
I walked into Ethan's room this morning and he was taking off his jammie shirt. He pointed at me, the way he does when I am likely to stop him from doing what he is doing! "I'm getting dressed," he said. I smiled and offered to help. He said he could do it so, I just watched.
He took his jammies off.
He picked a shirt from the basket and did a little happy dance because he liked the shirt.
He put the shirt on!!!
Then he picked some shorts from the basket and sat down, put both feet in, stood up and pulled them on (except the very back part which he couldn't get over his diaper).
My youngest is getting himself dressed! What does he think? Just because he is three now he can take care of himself?!!
It is so bittersweet for me. I love babies. I love holding, dressing, bathing, smelling, kissing and caring for them. I love being needed by them. So, although it is very exciting for him (and will save time for me), it is a little sad to cross yet another milestone where my little guy doesn't need me quite so much.
Congratulations Ethan! You did a great job! And I promise, these are mostly happy tears!

Bittersweet is definitely the right word for such an accomplishment!
What? He can get his shirt on properly and you didn't even know? Has he just been watching and waiting until he could get it right? Bittersweet for sure to see your last baby moving through these milestones.
For a kid who can climb up and down from refrigerators and cars with a camera in hand, getting dressed probably seemed like nothing! Well done, Ethan!
This is so cute- Mya just started doing it all right and it makes me sad and she isn't my baby!
