Extended Family at the Falls

Angela called us on Monday afternoon, after walking a giant dalmatian down University Avenue for the parade, and asked us if we wanted to come hike around Aspen Grove with the Woodards. We debated a bit- they were already on their way and we still needed to find shoes and load up; we might be intruding on a Woodard activity; some of us had just run a 10K and had tired legs... but we opted to grab our shoes and go. It was a great decision because we had such a good time.

We ended up hiking to Stewart Falls. It was four miles round trip and everyone did great! Ethan was so happy and such a good hiker. Emily was delightful. Kate was adventurous and helpful. Megan was a trooper, having run the 10K earlier, and also a great helper. (Soren was off with another friend.)

My favorite picture of the day is of Micah- holding a sleeping Wesley and taking Ethan's hand as he led the group back down the trail while talking to his Dad who was a few steps behind him. It represents so many things I love and appreciate about Micah- his strength, his kindness, his example. He is such a blessing to our family!

Micah is my brother in-law, so what does that make his family to me? Well- nothing really, but I feel like they are family and I love spending time with them. These are the best kind of people who not only remember you, but think about you and ask about the specific things going on in your life because they know what is going on and care about how you are doing. I'd like to think they are extended family. I am so grateful to know them and so grateful we could spend the day with them! (Don't you love the photo of Brett helping Anne down a steep part- such sweet, wonderful people!!)

You're freaking me out with all this physical activity...a 10k AND a 4 mile hike?! Really woman, what's in your breakfast?

We made that hike way back when Landon was a baby, but haven't been back since.

You're amazing... 10K plus 4 mile hike. We did that hike last summer with family that was visiting. It seemed so much longer than when I did it before without kids, but it is so pretty

There really needs to be names for what your BIL & SIL families are to you.
