Hello Grandma, I broke my arm!

Ethan has been holding his arm the last few days, he had a fever all day Tuesday, and he screams every time I put his shirt or carseat on. I felt like something was wrong and asked Kelly what he thought. After feeling his arms last night and deciding the right one was warm, tender and swollen- we made an appointment this morning with our Doctor (which is amazing that he was even in, thank you! thank you!!). They took two x-rays and found that he had a green branch break on the smaller bone in his forearm. It is called a green branch break because his bones at this age are like a green tree branch and instead of snapping they kind of crunch (very technical term used by the doctor!). He is in a sling until Wednesday, to help the swelling go down, then they will put on a hard cast- over his elbow so his bone won't rotate. He will have to wear that for a month!! I was joking with the doctor that I am over 30 years old and have never broken a bone, this kid didn't even make it to 2! We are not surprised by this- remember this is our REALLY busy guy who climbs and falls 50 times a day! It is still SO sad to see our little man tugging at his bunny sling, wanting to free his hand because he has things to do! I have a feeling I will not think the same thing about the hard, blue club he'll be swinging starting on Wednesday!

Oh Jenn! how sad for Ethan. Isn't it terrible when children are too young to tell us that something's wrong? I think we get so used to hearing them whine and complain that we tend to just think they're in a bad mood. I'm glad you took him to the doctor. I probably wouldhave waited a few more days to see if the swelling went down on it's own. I absolutely hate going to or taking Kaitlin to the doctor. Let me know if you need anything!

OH NO! I shouldn't be surprised, but I am. That poor kid! But I bet it won't really slow him down a bit. Nothing could! I'm glad you're able to keep a sense of humor about it all! Love you, and him!

Oh, my goodness! Poor little guy. Any idea how or when it happened? It's so hard to know when to go to the doctor. Rosie Boyd used to say they would go in for big things and find they were little, and go for little things, and find they were big. Ya never know. Glad you took him in. Give him a hug and kiss from Grandma, and y'all watch out for the club!

Watch out for the "Club" he'll be swingin' on Wednesday! It will be a great equalizer with his older siblings...

Oh, the poor little guy! That is so sad. Maybe he was jealous that Emily was getting all the sympathy...

That's amazing that he was functioning with it hurting so much. Do you have any idea which of his falls may have been "the one?" Poor baby and poor parents.

Although I am so sad he broke his arm...how absolutely adorable he looks in a sling! Give him extra hugs and kisses from his book club aunties. :)
