last birthday hoorah!
I started this post yesterday but Ethan was done waiting for me after checking email, blogs and writing my creative post. Hopefully my sweet book club friends don't think I am ungrateful for not posting right away about my wonderful birthday dinner! I am SO grateful for the night out, the good food, the baby to hold, the friends to commiserate with (seems everyone was sick or taking care of sick kids), and the PRESENTS!!
Before I get to the wonderful presents, I must say how much I love birthdays with girlfriends!! I did not really have girlfriends until this group found each other. Now, I can't imagine life without them! You have probably heard the Swedish Proverb that says Shared joy is a double joy; shared sorrow is half a sorrow. That is exactly how it works with my friends! The good things are SO much more when you have friends cheering for you, supporting you, complimenting you... and the bad things don't seem so bad when you have friends comforting you, relating to you, praying for you... I am so very blessed to have such good friends!
The real fun of your birthday, is you don't have to bring anything to the party! You just show up and find laughter, food, presents and dessert! I'm not even sure who brought what this time! It was all there and served to me... if only every meal could be so enjoyable! We had enchiladas, rice, salad, seven-layer dip and this dessert- I don't know what it was but it was yummy! If you knew how much I hated making dinner every night, you'd know that this was a gift in itself! Thank you, Thank you!!
Are you ready to see my present now? Have I made you wait long enough? It is so fabulous... you better brace yourself!

I'm told Michelle pulled this fabulous book together. She made the divider pages (don't you LOVE the tabs!!) and each of my friends made a page for me. You will never doubt that there are people who love and appreciate you when you have a book like this! As I read the notes from each of my friends, I was reminded how much history I have with these wonderful women! Why is that so comforting? Maybe because in addition to the laughter and fun, we have been through tears and sorrow. These women know me better than I know myself. The beauty of the book is it makes all of that tangible- I can hold in my hands all the love, support, laughter and understanding they have given me and for that, I am profoundly grateful.
Included with my book were gift certificates to University Mall. Such a stroke of genius! I have not been to Archiver's yet- paper anyone?! I LOVE See's Milk Chocolate Buttercreams- 1 pound or two? In case I have not rubbed it in enough, I'm going to Paris in the spring and I'd love something new to wear... do you see the brilliance of this gift!
Thank you my wonderful, amazing, generous friends! Thank you for reminding me that I am worth celebrating and celebrating well!

Your book turned out so beautifully that I'm giddy for you. You have done so much work for all of our books that we really needed to do something great for you. (It's fortunate that Michelle was up to the creative genius challenge and that she was able to come through!)
You'll have to report back whenever you spend your mall gift certificates so we can see what you bought.
wow! how beautiful! and what wonderful friends. those kinds of friends are treasures of a lifetime. what a great night.
Your book is amazing! What a great group of friends that you can count on and totally trust! How fun to get to birthday shop all over again!
I love your book. You do have great friends, I love hearing of how you love and support each other. You did such a pleasant job of writing this post, it seems like poetry.
I'm so thrilled that you love your book. Like Jill said, there was some pressure to come through with something good after all the work you have done on all of our books!
You stated perfectly the reason having a book like that is so wonderful -- the tangible reminders of good friendships, a treasure!
Amy really had a genius idea with the mall gift certificates, can't wait to find out how you use them!
Oh my gosh, that book is wonderful. I love it that it is something that you can hold and read and reread when you need a little pick me up or to be reminded just how great you are. What a wonderful group of friends you have, that is truly a blessing.
