Pink Eye
It has been a long time since I have had pink eye! When I was a teenager, I used to get it seasonally- almost to the day, every 3 months for about 2 years. But that was a long time ago. So, when my eye started to turn red, I didn't think much of it. I had been swimming. It had been dusty and windy... But my 9 year old, Megan, was quite paranoid about it and wanted to know for sure if I had pink eye or not. Funny.
After a quick trip to the doctor, it is official- I have pink eye! I actually feel fine. It is just my right eye. My eye isn't itchy. I'm not in any pain. I have no additional cold symptoms. The only reason I know I have it is that people have a hard time looking at my red and swollen eye without blinking rapidly and having their eyes water!

In an attempt to prevent my pink eye from spreading, I walked through the house this afternoon with my trusty Clorox wipes (how did people survive without these?!!) and I tried to disinfect as many surfaces as possible. I was reminded how wrong it is for the mom to get sick- in addition to all the door handles, light switches and counters, I found myself rewashing dishes, wiping down remotes, telephones, hangers (since I did four loads of laundry yesterday!), the keyboard and mouse, toys I had picked up, homework folders... it seemed EVERYTHING needed to be wiped down! After an hour, I called it good. I snuggled on the couch with Ethan and read my book. That was the best medicine of the day!
I'm now trying to find middle ground between Hand-Washing Nazi and Praying Zealot- I really don't want my kids to get pink eye!! I'll be keeping those Clorox wipes handy too!

I had no idea you have such a history with pink eye. I'm pretty sure I've only had it once, maybe twice, in my whole life. Is that our trade-off? You get pink eye and I get headaches? Something tells me I'd rather get what you have. I'M SO SORRY FOR YOU!! And I love you too. If I had the time off I would run to the rescue and play mommy for an evening. As it is, you get well wishes from afar.
Yay for Clorox wipes... what did we do without those? I hope the pink eye doesn't spread through your family... that could take awhile.... I'm glad you are feeling fine... hopefully you get better soon.
Love those Clorox wipes. If you'd known you were getting pink eye, you wouldn't have touched so many things, eh? I can't believe how much you used to get it.
And how does that work, snuggling with Ethan and reading YOUR book? Can you teach Eva how to do that??
that is funny...you are brave, there is no way i would take a picture with a pink eye...but the clorox wipes...is such a sight..i can picture you whipping every wehre you go....hope it gets better...I love those things, but sadly only use them to wipe toilet when alexei holds it tooooo long so by the time the zipper is going off..also you know what!
Hope you get better soon!!
I hope you got on a good Rx - I prefer Vigamoxx. We used to be pink eye regulars around here (when the kids started school a couple years ago) but luckily no bouts lately!
eek! pink eye is not fun and i hope that your fam did not contract it.
do report back@!
You managed to make pink eye look good, because you still look pretty. What's up with that?
I think running around with Clorox wipes is a good idea every day. Ha.
I have never had pink eye- it doesn't sound fun. I had no idea it was that contagious- what a pain in the butt for you! You do look rather cute though.
I want to play mommy and take care of you! Oh, wait. I am the mommy. But I'm retired. Sorry.
