It was Easter?
Okay. So, I know it was Easter.
My friend, Sarah, asked me when I was going to blog our Easter pictures. Having seen her post with lots of cute pictures, I said that I didn't have any. That wasn't true. I have a couple. We just had a lot going on and, while all the pieces were there for a great Easter, it didn't feel like much of a holiday. Why? Because we were buying a house!
This is the medium version:
Ben had Friday off of work (because there was a holiday?!!) so he met Kelly and I in Cedar Hills to look at some houses. We ended up walking through 11 or 12 and by the end of the day we knew that the first one had been the best.
Ben called the agent to see if we could come back one more time on Saturday morning, before making a final decision about putting an offer on it. We skipped our ward egg hunt and Angela and Micah, who had come up for Easter activities, followed us out to see the house instead.
We decided to make an offer! While Ben gathered all the necessary paperwork, Kelly and I made "Easter" dinner and Angela and Micah helped my kids dye eggs. Nate watched golf and cheered for Kelly and I as we signed all the papers.
After the offer was submitted, we ate lunch on plastic plates wherever we could find a seat since I had been to wrapped up in house hunting to really get my house cleaned up. Then Angela and Micah had to leave. I tricked them into filling candy eggs before they actually made it out the door, but we had to hunt without them.
{Emily, who was sick before and after the hunt, finds an egg on the fence.
Or several, since we don't have many hiding places in our yard with its one tree and an old swing set.}
Sunday, we had Stake Conference and...
a sick feeling about our offer! We didn't feel bad, just unsettled. We had dinner and another egg hunt at Grandma Nielsen's but our thoughts were elsewhere and I took all of 7 pictures the whole day.
{I feel so lucky to have gotten this picture, it was one of my 7 pictures at Grandma's house and I love it!}
This is where the story gets shortened, and trust me- it is a much longer story! After an acceptable counter-offer, some serious prayer, two more houses, a very rushed offer on a different house, an unacceptable counter-offer and some more serious prayer (thank you Ben for still being with us at this point!!)-
We are buying a house! We are very excited and very sure now that this is where we are supposed to be. We close in May and will move after school is out, the first week of June.
That puts us just shy of one year since we put our house on the market. It has been a long time coming, but I have learned much about patience, about faith in the Lord's timing, and about what we really need to be happy. I am thankful for those lessons and excited for the new ones that we will learn in our new home!
(I will try and post pictures of the house soon. I didn't take any when I was there and the listing is already down.)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! But please post details soon! I can't wait to hear more.
SO very happy for you Jenn!!
Exciting for you but sad for our neighborhood. You will all be missed but luckily you are not going too far. Can't wait to hear the details soon. I really am happy for you.
I'm dying to see the new house! I'm so excited for you guys, especially you though, I don't know how you've managed it all over this past year!
I love how you told the story in between pictures. That is soo life, the kids have no idea of the excitement and anxiousness of the new house. They just do their normal stuff while you and Kelly make all the life altering decisions. I am very excited for you but, sad to see you and your cute family leave.
So are you still moving to Cedar Hills? We LOVE it here. I'm excited to see if you are in my neck of the woods.
I am so H-A-P-P-Y for you!! Just think a few more months and you never have to look at that storage unit again!
I'm so happy that your home finally sold. I'm so glad that you have perspective and can see what the Lord was trying to teach you. The sister's of the ward have been so blessed to have you as their RS teacher -- that must have been part of the reason that you had to stay. Love you!
