Confession of a Blog Cheater

As of 9:30 this morning, my last post was on Tuesday, March 11th. That was more than two weeks ago!! If you were to visit my blog now, at 3:30pm, you would find three posts between then and now- hence, my confession.

I am a batch blogger.
I write my posts in groups.
I then alter the date of my post to reflect when I should have written it instead of when I actually did.

You see, I write posts almost every day. BUT, they stay in my head (or in my notebook) for long periods of time because I have to choose to let other things go undone in order to blog. I honestly struggle with what to ignore so I can work a post into each day. I'd rather just give blogging its own day.

Today was a blog day so, at 3:30pm, I am still in my pajamas having had marshmallows for breakfast and I am just now eating lunch. I did run a brush through my hair, but have no make-up on and did not wash my face yet. I haven't cleaned house from the "off-to-school" chaos or read any of the 500 pages of Wild Swans that I need to finish for book club on Wednesday. But I have written four posts (or will have when this is done) AND added a book review to my 2008 book list!

Jill asked me once if I take notes to come up with my recap posts. The answer to that is ABSOLUTELY! I have mentally written the posts or jotted down the ideas so writing a recap becomes easy. Often, they just deserve to be their own post and so I am delighted that I can CHEAT and change the post date when I finally get to the keyboard.

There are two catches to batch blogging. One- sometimes a post gets missed. I did an SPT that didn't get posted until much later and nobody ever saw it. I'm okay with that, I write my blog for me. But you do miss out on people's comments. Two- you overwhelm your family and friends. Some of them don't appreciate it.

But, it works for me.

I am a blog cheat.

Though I would prefer more regular posts, I think it's great that you post at all and do what works best for you. You do amazingly detailed catch-up posts so clearly you have a gift for batch posting.

Are we really going to have this book finished by Wednesday? It's not looking good. Maybe it should span two months time. What do you think?

I am a total blog cheat too! That post of Ryan I did on Saturday but, I didn't want to overwhelm people with Easter and Ryan so I waited until later in the week to post. Now my secret is out. (I feels kind of good :)

BTW- Why do you look so good without make-up. My no make-up picture would not look anything like me I don't think.

See, I do the same thing in reverse. I write a bunch of posts and pre date them, so that it looks like I've written a post a day. Whenever you see me posting a lot in one week it's usually because I sat down and wrote several posts in one night.

I have to agree with Jill-- I know I'm not going to have the book done by Wednesday. It's incredibly interesting, but it's taking me forever to read. Two months sounds more than good to me!

If it works for you than that is what counts. I am one of the friends that anxiously awaits your posts. I check for something new each time I long on, which is usually several times a day. And then I get confused because when I check again an hour later you have a post from two days ago. I still love you though.

p.s. I really enjoyed your lesson today. Great job as always. Before R.S. started, Jolene leaned over to me and went on and on about how much she appreciates your lessons each month and what a wonderful teacher you are.

I don't know how you do this, Jenn, but I'm glad you do! Whatever works. And seriously, how do you look so good without makeup?

I don't care when you write them, I LOVE your posts!! not only you let us know what's going on in your life, you are so HONEST about it!!! (love your picture without make up). You make me feel so good, when you share something that wasn't so great, because I think that that is LIFE and we are suposed to have trials, right? not that I want you to have trials, but it helps me see how wonderful people like you, cope with the imperfections of life. You are a great example to me!!
