November 6th: Creativity

Today our Relief Society hosted a "Day to Create." Several projects were offered in addition to a cake decorating and cookie decorating demo, or you could just bring your own project to work on. This is the frame that I made while I visited with sisters in my ward and ate yummy soup.

The motivation for this day came from Elder Uchtdorf's talk in the General RS Meeting in September 2008. He talked about our human desire to create things; our connection to our Heavenly Father, who is the most creative being in the universe; the happiness and satisfaction that come from creating; and my favorite part-

"The bounds of creativity extend far beyond the limits of a canvas or a sheet of paper and do not require a brush, a pen, or the keys of a piano. Creation means bringing into existence something that did not exist before—colorful gardens, harmonious homes, family memories, flowing laughter."

Most of our efforts today were "crafty", but I still felt a great appreciation for the talents that the Lord has given me and allowed me to develop. I also felt an intense gratitude for the creative women I know. Those who share my love of paper and photos, those who enrich my life with music, those who teach me through wise lessons and those who show me how to laugh and serve- I am thankful for you! And I am thankful for your creativity.
